War No More (8.5.13)

Birds singing
bells ringing
bluebells glowing, in the light
war has ended today
or so they say

today is the day the Second World War
came to an end
six decades ago and a bit
yet war is still alive elsewhere
elsewhere lives are still being lost
elsewhere, elsewhere:
people die for us, our bloody affluence

bloody, indeed
bloody capitalism
bloody exploitation
bloody wars for our affluence even if we don't want it
and even worse if we do

bluebells
bells
birds help us, this day
to think more clearly
and deeper

so that one day there may be
war no more
so that one day there may be
peace
so that one day we will be
One so that then we will
win!

Ursula Troche, May 2013
