"Africa: The Beat" was filmed in Nzali, an enclave situated in the heart of Tanzania where the Wagogo live. Theirs is a unique musical universe. From the film's first frame to the last sound heard, each image takes us further into their daily reality while their music gradually engulfs us in a world of surprising sensations. Day and night the passage of time and seasons, nature and the elements, water, the importance of the word and stories, the stages of life ... all of this emerges from a pulsation around which every instant of existence is articulated. Filmed with rudimentary technical means, the film conjoins the perspective of a painter, the vision of a filmmaker and the sensibilities of two musicians, who demonstrate the essential place music occupies in life.

"Africa: The Beat" wurde in Nzali gefilmt, einer Enklave im Herzen Tansanias, wo die Wagogo leben. Ihnen ist ein einzigartiges musikalisches Universum zu eigen. Von der ersten Einstellung des Films bis zum letzten zu hörenden Ton zieht uns jedes Bild weiter hinein in ihre tägliche Realität, während ihre Musik uns nach und nach in eine Welt überraschender Empfindungen entführt. Tag und Nacht, der Lauf der Zeit und der Jahreszeiten, Natur und die Elemente, das Wasser, die Bedeutung des Wortes und der Geschichten, die Etappen des Lebens ..., all dies wird getragen von pulsierenden Rhythmen, durch die jedes Ereignis des Lebens ausgedrückt wird. Gefilmt mit einfachen technischen Mitteln, verbindet der Film die Sichtweise eines Malers, die Vision eines Filmemachers und die Sensibilität zweier Musiker, die den essentiellen Raum beschreiben, den die Musik im Leben einnimmt.
