Using evocative images, classical music and innovative storytelling, "The Afterlife" is a meditation on life, death and the unknown. The film subtly blends a magic, or fantastical element within a realistic atmosphere, in order to access a deeper understanding of grieving, loss and the things we hold on to that won't let us go. The grand theme of loss and the unknown is captured with a modern twist almost singular to this short film: A mysterious boy telling a secret to an old man in a nursing home.

Mit atmosphärischen Bildern, Klassischer Musik und innovativer Erzählweise ist "The Afterlife" eine Meditation auf das Leben, den Tod und das Unbekannte. Der Film vermischt unterschwellig Magie, oder fantastische Elemente, innerhalb einer realistischen Atmosphäre, um den Zugang zu einem tieferen Verständnis von Trauer, Verlust und den Dingen zu erreichen, an denen wir festhalten und die uns nicht loslassen. Das große Thema von Verlust und dem Unbekannten wird durch eine moderne Wendung ausgedrückt, fast selten für einen kurzen Film: Ein mysteriöser Junge erzählt einem alten Mann in einem Pflegeheim ein Geheimnis.
