An African American hip hop dancer resists the ancestral call of the Senegalese dance "Sabar". When she finally gives in, she discovers more than a dance - she finds herself. Set against the backdrop of the African dance movement in the United States, "Sabar" is a dramatic feature film about the triumph of the human spirit in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. "Sabar" examines how we constantly negotiate and choreograph our way through the bigger dance called life.

Eine afrikanisch-amerikanische Hiphop-Tänzerin verweigert sich dem Ahnenruf des senegalesischen Tanzes "Sabar". Als sie schließlich nachgibt, entdeckt sie mehr als einen Tanz - sie findet sich selbst. Vor dem Hintergrund der Verbreitung des afrikanischen Tanzes in den USA erzählt der dramatische Spielfilm "Sabar" vom Triumph des menschlichen Geistes angesichts scheinbar unüberwindbarer Unterschiede. "Sabar" beobachtet, wie wir ununterbrochen verhandeln und uns durch den größeren Tanz, genannt Leben, hindurch choreographieren.
