"Les ballets C de la B" from Gent, Belgium, shows a new adaptation of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew's Passion by Alain Platel and Fabrizio Cassol. Bach goes Africa. After their impressive tour of one year throughout the world, this extraordinary dance company performs a last show in Congo. "pitié!" is a play pleading for more compassion in our daily life. Showing this radical vivid dance-theatre in Africa creates a new dimension for dancers, musicians and audience. Living more compassion would change our world and Kinshasa is the striking proof of this. The film by Jörg Jeshel and Brigitte Kramer is a music and dance film, a documentary regarding a rare encounter of classical music and African reality, a celebration of passion and compassion. And it is a reflection upon sacred music by breathtaking singers, featuring the young Congolese countertenor Serge Kakudji, in a country struggling to survive.

Der Film von Jörg Jeshel und Brigitte Kramer ist ein Musik- und Tanzfilm, ein Dokumentarfilm über die seltene Begegnung zwischen Klassischer Musik und afrikanischer Wirklichkeit, eine Feier der Leidenschaft und des Mitgefühls. Es ist eine Reflektion über sakrale Musik von atemberaubenden Sängern, mit dem jungen kongolesischen Countertenor Serge Kakudji in der Hauptrolle, in einem Land, das ums Überleben kämpft.
