AN ASPECT OF HISTORY:
TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
INTRODUCTION/EINFÜHRUNG
Broadband Socio-Economic Development Between Germany and Africa
"An Aspect of History - Truth and Reconciliation" seminars/workshops are designed
to address educational, social, cultural and economic issues associated with
decisions and results of the 1884 - 1885 Berlin Conference.
The XIX. Black International Cinema Festival 2004 will address the socio-economic
impact as a result of changes wrought in Africa and Europe by the Berlin Conference.
The resources garnered in Germany and Europe from the colonial adventure impacted
upon the socio-economic performance of German and European people in a beneficial
manner, while creating a converse effect upon the colonized people.
As history has unfolded, a more egalitarian balance of economic and political
power is gradually being established between the partners created, as a result
of the Berlin Conference.
It is becoming increasingly apparent with mineral, oil, gas, timber, land
and people reserves, that immense possibilities for economic co-operation
and development exist and will increase in the future economic Germany-Africa
Relationship.

Afrika
Die Seminare/Workshops unter dem Titel "Ein Aspekt der Geschichte - Wahrheit
und Versöhnung" sind konzipiert, um bildungsorientierte, soziale, kulturelle
und ökonomische Fragen aufzugreifen, die mit Entscheidungen und Ergebnissen
der Berlin-Konferenz 1884 - 1885 zusammen hängen.
Das XIX. Black International Cinema Festival 2004 wird sich mit der sozio-ökonomischen
Auswirkung als Resultat der Veränderungen auseinander setzen, die in Afrika
und Europa durch die Berlin-Konferenz geschmiedet wurden.
Die in Deutschland und Europa durch das koloniale Abenteuer erworbenen Reichtümer
wirkten sich auf die sozio-ökonomische Leistung der deutschen und europäischen
Menschen auf nützliche Weise aus, wohingegen sie einen gegenteiligen Effekt
auf die kolonialisierten Menschen erzeugt haben.
Während sich die Geschichte entfaltet hat, wird sich allmählich eine egalitäre
Balance von politischer und ökonomischer Macht zwischen den Partnern, die
als Resultat aus der Berliner Konferenz hervorgegangen sind, etablieren.
Es wird in wachsendem Maße offensichtlich, dass durch Reserven an Mineralien,
Öl, Gas, Nutzholz, Boden und Menschen immense Möglichkeiten für eine ökonomische
Kooperation und Entwicklung existieren und in der zukünftigen ökonomischen
Deutschland-Afrika-Beziehung wachsen werden.

A historical overview of European-African relationships from:
Past - 1884-1885 Berlin Conference - Present - Future?
Introducing Bloodline as an educational training project intending improved
understanding through truth and reconciliation by tracing the German roots
of racism, sexism and classism. The workshop will explore the historical background
behind Germany's involvement in colonial practices in Africa and events of
the Holocaust. This approach will serve as a community forum, in which information
and education will ease the burden and pain endured by all concerned, arising
from German history and hence, seeks to promote tolerance in the socio-cultural
climate of the diverse city of Berlin.
BLUTSPUR I
Ein historischer Überblick der europäisch-afrikanischen Beziehungen:
Vergangenheit - 1884-1885 Berlin-Konferenz - Gegenwart - Zukunft?
Vorgestellt wird Blutspur als ein bildungsorientiertes Trainingsprojekt mit
der Intention, ein verbessertes Verständnis durch Wahrheit und Versöhnung
hervorzurufen, indem es die deutschen Wurzeln von Rassismus, Sexismus und
Klassengesellschaft verfolgt. Der Workshop wird den historischen Hintergrund
erforschen, der sich hinter der Involvierung Deutschlands in der Kolonialpraxis
in Afrika und den Begebenheiten des Holocaust verbirgt. Diese Annäherung wird
als Gemeinschaftsforum dienen, in dem Information und Bildung die Belastung
und den Schmerz entlasten werden, ertragen von allen Beteiligten, entstanden
durch deutsche Geschichte, und folglich danach streben, Toleranz zu fördern
in dem sozio-kulturellen Klima der durch verschiedene Gruppen geprägten Stadt
Berlin.
Seminar Outline/Seminarstruktur
In Einem Fernen Land: Germany’s role in the division & exploitation of the African continent.
Topics covered: Analysis of events leading up to the Berlin Conference and their aftermath.
In Einem Fernen Land: Deutschlands Rolle in der Zerteilung und Ausbeutung des
afrikanischen Kontinents.
Themen: Analyse von Ereignissen, die zu der Berlin-Konferenz
und deren Auswirkungen führten.
