FILMS FROM THE FILM NETWORK WEST AFRICA

MOVING BEYOND is the conclusion of a series of projects aimed at supporting the Film Network West Africa (FNWA) and its five member organizations. As part of the three-year project (2023 – 2026), the partner NGOs in Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo are expanding and professionalizing their training programs and networking even more in order to sustainably increase their independence and future viability. At the same time, they are strengthening the film sector in their countries, where qualified specialists are still needed, but there are few and hardly any affordable training opportunities.
Where possible, the partners also organize internships and place trainees directly with TV stations and production companies. By establishing these collaborations, more and more young people should be given the chance to start their professional lives successfully.
The training programs of the partner NGOs emphasize practice-oriented learning and therefore always include film productions in which the trainees are supervised and trained by the trainers. The films deal with topics and problems that the teams consider to be particularly important and relevant. The productions are shown at festivals, mobile cinema tours and on television and are then made available to a wider audience online.
MOVING BEYOND is a project by WELTFILME, YMCA Ghana, SLADEA (Sierra Leone), NAEAL (Liberia), Cinéma Numérique Ambulant Togo, The University of The Gambia and Xchange Perspectives with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

MOVING BEYOND ist der Abschluss einer Projektreihe, die zum Ziel hat, das Film Network West Africa (FNWA) und seine fünf Mitgliederorganisationen zu unterstützen. Im Rahmen des dreijährigen Projekts (2023 – 2026) erweitern und professionalisieren die Partner-NROs in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Gambia und Togo ihre Ausbildungsprogramme und vernetzen sich noch mehr, um so ihre Unabhängigkeit und Zukunftsfähigkeit nachhaltig auszubauen. Gleichzeitig stärken sie den Filmsektor in ihren Ländern, wo nach wie vor qualifiziertes Fachpersonal benötigt wird, es aber nur wenige und kaum erschwingliche Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten gibt.
Wo möglich, organisieren die Partner auch Praktika und vermitteln Auszubildende direkt an TV-Sender und Produktionsfirmen. Durch den Aufbau dieser Kooperationen sollen mehr und mehr junge Menschen die Chance bekommen, erfolgreich ins Berufsleben zu starten.
Die Ausbildungsprogramme der Partner-NROs sind betont praxisorientiert und beinhalten daher immer Filmproduktionen, bei denen die Trainees von den Trainer*innen betreut und angelernt werden. Die Filme setzen sich mit Themen und Problemen auseinander, die aus Sicht der Teams besonders wichtig und relevant sind. Die Produktionen werden auf Festivals, Mobile Cinema Touren und im Fernsehen gezeigt und danach online einem breiten Publikum zugänglich gemacht.
