MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The WELTFILME project MAKE A DIFFERENCE has brought together 36 filmmakers
from Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia to develop and produce six
films revolving around questions of how an individual can make a difference,
for example how to improve the situation of society as a whole.
Produced in Accra between June and October 2019, these unique film stories
cover a broad range of specific subject matters as environment,
entrepreneurship, democracy, human rights, peacekeeping and other subject
matters.
This project is embedded in a long-term cooperation with the YMCA Ghana,
which is to construct a sustainable media hub and an inclusive, low-threshold
film school in Accra, Ghana with the Ghanian film trainers as teachers for
film classes organized and implemented by the YMCA Ghana.
Das WELTFILME-Projekt MAKE A DIFFERENCE hat 36 FilmemacherInnen aus Ghana,
Liberia, Sierra Leone und Gambia zusammengebracht, um sechs Filme zu
entwickeln und zu produzieren, die sich mit Fragen befassen, wie ein
Individuum etwas bewirken kann, zum Beispiel wie man die Situation der
Gesellschaft als ganze verbessern kann.
Diese einzigartigen Filmgeschichten wurden zwischen Juni und Oktober 2019 in
Accra produziert und decken ein breites Spektrum spezifischer Themen ab,
darunter Umwelt, Unternehmertum, Demokratie, Menschenrechte,
Friedenssicherung und andere Themen.
Dieses Projekt ist eingebettet in eine langfristige Zusammenarbeit mit dem
YMCA Ghana, die den Aufbau eines nachhaltigen Medienzentrums und einer
integrativen Filmschule mit niedrigem Schwellenwert in Accra, Ghana, mit den

David, just released from prison after 15 years, seeks to make a
difference in the life of Raymond, a young man to whom David is
connected through an unfortunate event in his own troubled youth. When
the truth finally comes to light, the budding friendship between the two
men is about to fall apart.
David, der gerade nach 15 Jahren aus dem Gefängnis entlassen wurde,
versucht, das Leben von Raymond zu verbessern, einem jungen Mann, mit
dem David durch ein unglückliches Ereignis in seiner eigenen schwierigen
Jugend verbunden ist. Als die Wahrheit endlich ans Licht kommt, ist die
aufkeimende Freundschaft zwischen den beiden Männern kurz davor
auseinanderzufallen.

professional dancer specializing in classical Persian dance; she lives in
Richmond, California.

abortion problem in a village, where he is posted for his National
Service. But using strategies of his own, soon get him into serious

Awudu Tijani has been voluntarily directing traffic in Ghana’s capital,
Accra, for over two decades. Homeless, battling drug addiction, and relying
on the benevolence of motorists, it is his childhood longing of becoming a
police officer which drives him back to the road every day. Will his dream
ever come true?
Awudu Tijani leitet seit über zwei Jahrzehnten freiwillig den Verkehr in
Ghanas Hauptstadt Accra. Obdachlos, im Kampf gegen Drogenabhängigkeit und
dem Wohlwollen der Autofahrer ausgeliefert, ist es seine Sehnsucht aus der
Kindheit, Polizist zu werden, die ihn jeden Tag auf die Straße zurückbringt.

“Mary Burrill’s Aftermath: Connecting with the Past through Drama” looks at
the African American experience during the World War I era through the lens
of the short play Aftermath (1917) by African American writer/educator Mary
Burrill. “Mary Burrill’s Aftermath” was designed to be an educational resource
and highlights the potential of faculty, students, and alumni at The
Community College of Baltimore County to connect history and contemporary
social issues through drama.

betrachtet die afrikanisch-amerikanische Erfahrung während des Ersten
Weltkriegs durch die Linse des Kurzspiels Aftermath (1917) der
afrikanisch-amerikanischen Schriftstellerin/Pädagogin Mary Burrill. „Mary
Burrills Aftermath“ wurde als Bildungsressource konzipiert und zeigt das
Potenzial von Lehrkräften, StudentInnen und Alumni am Community College des
Baltimore County auf, Geschichte und zeitgenössische soziale Themen durch
die Darstellung des Dramas miteinander zu verbinden.
